The Mayo-Clinic website belongs to the non-profit Mayo-Clinic medical and academic center (Mayoclinic.org). The website also provides customized healthcare services to patients through online doctors with whom patients can contact or book appointments. The website also offers data on current research that is being conducted by the Mayo-Clinic medical organization. It gives information on how the research has been conducted as well as its progress. On the website is also information on how to live a healthy lifestyle which includes information on healthy eating, exercising, and maintaining and restoring mental health. The website also allows doctors to make doctor referrals in treating patients (Mayoclinic.org).
The HealthTap healthcare website is a website that enables patients to get medical services from doctors anywhere and anytime. The website belongs to the HealthTap for-profit organization. For a fee of about $99 per month, patients can access doctor services without the necessity of making a physical trip to a physician (Healthtap.org). Through the website, patients can get medical assistance from doctors through texting or even video conferencing. The website claims to have over 140,000 doctors to whom customers can consult (Healthtap.org).
Healthcare providers use these electronic healthcare resources to enhance their products and services in various ways. One way in which healthcare providers can enhance their products or services through these electronic healthcare resources is through being able to reach more people. Furthermore, healthcare providers are also able to advance their services or products by being able to give medical services to more diverse people in terms of race, geographical location, and culture. Furthermore, by getting to reach more people through the internet’s ubiquity, these electronic healthcare resources can help advance the services and products of healthcare providers by bringing in more physical customers to those that offer physical services.
These electronic healthcare resources have several impacts on the healthcare industry. One major impact of the resources is that doctors no longer have to be limited to being employed in physical hospitals but can rather also be employed by web-based medical services companies, like HealthTap (Brown). Another major implication for healthcare providers of the development of these healthcare resources is less physical visits to doctors than otherwise would be the case.
